Panda is one the lightest and cheapest protection software against viruses and spyware available in the market. However, its protection leaves a lot to be desired. In testing, its anti-spyware performance was not so good as other programs, but if you're a not a heavy internet user it may work for you. The program uses standard signature-based scanning, which is supplemented by the genetic heuristic analysis used to protect your computer from malware. One thing to highlight from this utility is its real-time protection, since it scans every file on every access, even when you just open the folder that contains it. What is more, It scans all attachments arriving with POP3 or HTTP-based e-mail and any that go out via SMTP, just in case you send an infected file without knowing this. Moreover, it also checks all files received via AOL , Yahoo!, and Microsoft instant-messaging clients. The program also lacks a way to schedule a recurring scan and great disadvantage of the utility is that it simply deletes viruses and spyware that it can't disinfect, without offering the option to quarantine them.
